Job Summary: Tompkins’ Material Handling Integration Department Is responsible for the design, specification, implementation and commissioning of Material Handling Systems for our customers.
In this position you will be responsible for creating the electrical design package, the bill of materials, the request for proposals, panel builds, site electrical installations, site electrical testing and commissioning.
The position requires you to coordinate and work closely with Controls Engineers, System Architects, Application Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Software Engineers, Sub-Contractors and Project Managers throughout the life cycle of the projects.
Job Functions:
- Electrical Controls Engineering Design
- AutoCAD (Panel Layouts, Power Distribution, PLC I/O, Safety)
- Controls and Communication Architecture Design (PLCs, I/O Distribution, Ethernet Communications)
- Bill of Material Creation, Order Submission, Client Spare Parts Recommendation
- Request for Proposal Creation used for the Vendor Quoting and Selection Process
- Electrical Engineering Technical Support to all Internal and External TEAMs
- Professional Communication and Presentation to all Internal and External Teams
- Professional Documentation Presentation to all Internal and External Teams
- Create, Organize and Properly Store Electrical Designs, Bill of Materials and other Documentation Created
- Participate In Team Meetings as required
- Accept other Occasionally Assigned Tasks that are Field Related
- Projects Performed On Time
- Projects Performed to Budget
Qualifications:
- Bachelor in Electrical / Electronic Engineering OR minimum 3 years of equivalent experience
- Experience in Electrical Design with Panel Layouts, Schematics
- Experience in Electrical Design with VFDs, Scanners, Scales and Conveyance Systems
- Experience in Communication Networks using Ethernet Communications
- Experience In Electrical Design with Safety Circuits
- Knowledge of Acceptable Electrical Practices, Techniques, and Codes
- Experience Designing Electrical Projects
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
- Organizational Skills
- Proactive Attitude towards Solving and Completing Tasks
- Proactive Attitude towards Identifying, Initiating, and Implementing Improvement Activities
- Team Player with Hands-On Teamwork and Support as Required
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet customer requirements project deadlines
- Mechanical Aptitude of Equipment Operation Is Preferred
- Willingness to travel up to an average of 30%
